However, social media is making fun of displaying the IPL trophy through 'light show' at the opening ceremony. Many claim that this concept of displaying the trophy is copied from the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
A 'light show' was organized by drones at the opening ceremony of the IPL. The drone's LED technology displays the IPL trophy in tiny lights.
Pakistani media "Geo TV" and some other media claimed that this is how the trophy was displayed at the opening ceremony of the eighth season of PSL in Multan in February this year. Pakistani media claimed that the PSL is the first time such a technology service has been used in any sporting event.
Many have commented ironically on social media Twitter. Posting side-by-side pictures of PSL and IPL trophy displays, a Twitter user wrote, 'IPL has copied this trophy display technique from PSL. BCCI has robbed the creation of PCB. Pakistan Super League is now a global brand. Another wrote, "It's a cheap copy of PSL."
In the fifth edition of the franchise league in 2020, there were allegations that the promotion of the title sponsor organization was copied from an Indian company. At that time Naveed Haider, head of marketing of PSL's title sponsor Habib Bank, said, 'Yes, the facts are true. PSL campaign had to be stopped for this. Because the whole campaign is copied from an organization in India.
